September 27th 2009, Orphée Bristow's 25th birthday, a launch ramp in our kitchen (courtesy of Antoine Erimian, carpenter, wood carver and architect), the floor all covered in wood too thanks to some quality work (Quentin Mandron, Farside Crash, Antoine and myself), and a grindable couch to top it all off. This is what got some curious minds to pay us a visit at the One Sixteen, all wondering what kind of madness would unfold.

Guillaume Martial is a talented photographer, dedicated to his art, originally from Caen and currently residing in Montpellier. He also happens to be an old school rollerblader (for instance, he produced the rolling DVD Brut de Pomme out of Normandy), who never misses a chance to strap on a pair of blades and shred with his friends, or just cruise throughout the city streets.

PHOTOS: GIPSY TOUR REPORT

This title refers to road trips, and especially road trippers. The connexion with rollerblading ? Well, it turns out that for ten days, fourteen funny bastards, coming from all around the country, and pretty talented with wheels beneath their feet, just got together for a Gipsy kind of trip. Sleeping outside every night, in their beloved hammocks if there were trees to be found, eating well but barely enough, living far from all modern comfort, and spending the whole day skating whatever would come across their path : skateparks, bowls, street spots... Quite a Gipsy atmosphere, as some of them were musicians also.

FRENCHY FRIES BIMBO TEE-SHIRT : MAKING OF EDIT

The staff here at Frenchy Fries has produced a couple series of tee-shirt since we launched the website a few months back. Not that we're making any money out of it really, but it's a great tool to promote our work with a different kind of media, and show our supporters some love, and having them show some love in return. Although we sold out our last Bimbo tee-shirt without much advertisement, we originally had planned otherwise. Here is the story of a failure... And of a success too.

KULTURE : EVERYDAYZ NEW ALBUM

It isn't an easy task to write about music, especially on the Internet. However, this time a special occasion decided us to make the move, and introduce you to the work of our friend Ilia Koutchoukov. Some of you may know him as a talented rollerblader (he for instance placed second at the FISE pro contest in 2005, right behind Brian Shima), and he represented several companies with his unique style of skating. But fewer may know his musical talent, and the tunes he produces under the name Everydayz...

MONTAGE : MATHIEU HEINEMANN ARCENA EDIT

The rollerblading industry has always belonged to the community and its members. Even when corporate brands were still trying to make a quick buck off of rollerblading, fellow aggressive skaters were always ones to take care of their own destiny. There are countless examples in our history of brands founded by skaters, and even if the « skater-owned » tag is sometimes misused, there's no doubt that with companies like NIMH, skaters are in control of their own industry more than ever. The French clothing brand Arcena could be another prime example of all this.
