MONTAGE : REMY MEISTER'S SUICIDE

Certaines personnes ont une manière de fonctionner qui leur est propre. Rémy Meister a sa façon à lui, bien spécifique. Cela s’appelle “working by crisis”. C’est soit trop, soit trop peu. Un sentiment d’extase maniaque ou bien de dépression profonde. L’ingurgitation de plusieurs kilos de chocolat, ou pas une miette de pain… Pendant plusieurs jours. Dans le cas précis de Rémy, il semblerait que le seul équilibre qui lui soit accessible est atteint lorsqu’il surfe avec aise sur des rails à la mort.

Some people have their very own way of functioning. Remy Meister has his own, specific way. It is called “working by crisis”. It’s either too much or not enough. Feeling ecstatic or being depressed. Eating several pounds of chocolate or not eating at all… For days. As far as Remy is concerned, it seems like the only balance he can find is when he’s surfing death rails on his skates.

Après avoir explosé sur la scène française il y a quelques années, et filmé une section “marteau” pour une video Ground Control qui n’est toujours pas prêt de sortir, son patinage puissant et stylé s’est fait plus discret quand Rémy s’est installé à Bruxelles pour étudier dans l’une des plus prestigieuse école d’architecture en Europe. Au cours des deux dernières années, il a traversé différentes phases, et son skating a fait de même.

After blowing up on the French scene a few years ago, and dropping a hammer section for a Ground Control video that never came out, his powerful and stylish skating kind of vanished out of the spotlights when he moved to Brussels (Belgium) in order to attend one of the best architecture schools in Europe. In the past two years, Remy went through a lot of different phases, and his skating did as well.

Il est devenu plus compliqué de le voir, et seulement une fois de temps en temps, j’ai pu avoir un aperçu de ses acrobaties rollistiques, ainsi que rassembler quelques nouvelles de mon flamboyant colocataire. Sa vie a été assez folle, pour faire bref et épargner mon oreille droite. Et son skating a suivi cette évolution.

It’s been hard to catch up with him lately, and I could only get a glimpse of his skating from time to time, as well as some news of my flamboyant roommate. His life’s been kind of hectic, to say the least. And his skating evolved a lot.

Ce profile est constitué d’images accumulées au cours des deux dernières années, et on y retrouve nombre d’endroits, et nombre de phases différentes dans son skating. Cela pourra vous sembler étrange. Rémy lui-même détestera sans doute ce montage. Mais d’une façon ou bien d’une autre, ce patchwork le représente bien, s’il peut être la somme des différents et multiples Rémy Meister qui ont roulé à travers les rues déglinguées des années passées. This profile has been made of clips collected throughout the past two years, and features a lot of different places and different phases in his style and skating. It may look weird to you. Remy himself will most probably hate it. But in a way or another, this patchwork truly reflects him, if “him” can be the sum of the many different Remy that rolled through the busy streets in the past years. Working by crisis.
