I started skating in 1996 when I was 9, along with my brother and some friends. I got Roces FC Rome and my first set of grind wheels (Hyper Jacks) and grindplates for Xmas 96, so really that's when it all started properly. This was in south west London, where I grew up in Raynes Park. A good period of my early skating days were spent at home in my back garden, where my Dad would help us build all sorts of ramps, rails and boxes. We then started to skate street around our local area, and eventually when I was old enough we would venture into the City of London.

I'd say pretty much around the same time that I started blading: my Dad would film me and my mates on a VHS-C camera. Eventually, when my Dad got bored of standing in the cold at skateparks, my brother and I took over with the camera. At first I wasn't all that bothered about filming, but a few years down the line I got more into it and we started to make our own VHS edited tapes with no music. Around 2000 I got my first DV camera and I began to make edits properly with Premiere. So all in all, I'd say I've been filming for about 10 years.

My main video camera right now is a Canon XHA1 with the 0.3x Century, but I also have a 550D with a few different lenses. During the filming of Vine St, we had a friend from Chile stay with us who also had a 5Dmk2, 7D and an HVX200, amongst countless other pieces of equipment. He taught me a lot and really helped to make the video what it was.

I've had a few cameras over the years, but I'd say the Canon XM1(GL1) was my first decent one, and probably still my favorite! I also had a Sony VX1000 before that and some other shitty JVC ones.

The first major project that I worked on was for the Egg DVD from 06 - 07, in the UK. A good friend of mine, Jonny Lee, asked me if I wanted to be involved with this project, and I ended up filming a section for the video and contributing quite a bit of footage.

Vine St is the first thing that I've produced myself, although as I mentioned earlier, I did have a helping hand from our Chilean friend, Leo Diaz. I also need to say a big thank you to Ed Inglis who did all the text animation for the video.

Other than that I made a few local videos with friends from London, namely the Manifest series with Kaz G, which was mostly just leftover footage from other projects, but was always really good fun to make, and good practice for future projects.

Rollerblading-wise, my influences used to come from the skaters that I looked up to when growing up during the Coup de tat / BFG era. Right now I don't get the same feeling from watching videos these days, rather I am more influenced by the friends that I skate with.

In terms of filming I look up to Beau Cottington's work, and more recently Carl Sturgess' videos. Other than that, Vinny's new Glidecam stuff is really impressive!

People are always coming and going in Sydney, so the scene is constantly changing. But right now I'll mainly blade with CJ, Craig, Hadrien, Tien, Pablo, Kayd, etc. And then whoever else is down visiting at the time. Back in the UK I'll mainly skate with Leon Humphries and the London crew, or whoever is down, depending on what area I'm in.

And to finish up this article for Frenchy Fries, a few words on food of course ! My favorite food would have to be a bacon and egg sarnie with tomato sauce on the side for dipping, and obviously a cup of tea to wash it down!
